Introduction to Our Restoration Project
In the heart of Asturias lies a stunning 19th-century house, a treasure steeped in history that has sadly fallen into disrepair. Our mission is to rescue this architectural gem from decay and transform it into a warm home. We aim to conduct as much of the restoration ourselves as possible using traditional materials and techniques from the period to maintain its authenticity. By doing so, we not only honor the history of this beautiful house but also learn valuable skills such as stone masonry and carpentry along the way.
Learning Through Restoration
Our journey began in 2018 when we opened our doors to fellow enthusiasts looking to learn about old construction methods. With Suso, an experienced renovator in Asturias, as our guide, we are paving the way to a deeper understanding of traditional building practices. Suso is eager to share his substantial knowledge in exchange for a helping hand, making this a collaborative experience. We believe that this effort not only aids in the physical restoration of the house but also fosters community, learning, and personal growth.
Future Plans: Progress and Goals
Since we started, the progress has been slow but steady. The year 2025 marks an important milestone for our project. With the house now safe from the threats of landslides, we are shifting our focus to the areas impacted by the 2020 damages. Come April, we’re excited to pour a slab of concrete, laying a solid foundation for the next phase of our restoration plans. The challenge is significant, yet every step we take is a step closer to reviving this beautiful piece of history.
As we move forward, we invite anyone interested in learning carpentry, stone masonry, and a myriad of other restoration techniques to join us on this venture. Together, we'll not only breathe new life into this Asturian house but also create lasting memories and friendships along the way. Whether you have prior experience or are simply curious about traditional crafts, there’s something for everyone in this hands-on experience.

2025 goals. Now that the house is safe from landslides we can start working on the area that got damaged in 2020.
Starting in April we're going to pour a slab of concrete and get everything ready to rebuild the wall that collapsed with the landslide.
And during the summer we hope the south wing is going to be ready for the interior work.
